Cybermissions: Reaching the World on the Web with the Word

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8, King James Version)

One of our missions here at Helping Hand Ministries is to "Reach the World on the Web with the Word". Initially I just thought that would be through this blog. The number of you visiting the site is growing, and I have gotten great feedback on it. But I watched this video on YouTube and realized that there are so many other ways that we can reach out with the Word. Check out this video and you too can see how "cyber-connected" people are these days all around the world. Then pray with us that we can make the best use of all available technologies to reach people with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.    Did You Know 4.0

GPS: God's Positioning System...Part 2

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: (Exodus 13:21, King James Version)

On a previous blog post "GPS - Part 1", I shared how God is like a GPS in that He sees where we are and where we are going. And so, we ought to trust in Him and seek His direction for our lives.  Looking at Exodus 13:21, we see 3 other truths about God which should prompt us to follow Him as our GPS.

1) God is above us: Just as the pillars of cloud and fire were above the children of Israel, so God is above us. Psalm 97:9 says "For thou, Lord, art high above the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods". God is holy, and His ways are higher than our ways. Though He loves us, He is not like us. Just like Israel, we can be hard-headed, selfish, shallow, materialistic, and overall sinful people. Sometimes we try to bring God down to our level by finding ways to justify how we are. But we can't, because He is above us. God doesn't come down to our level, but He reaches down to pull us up to His.

2) God is ahead of us: The passage says that the Lord went before them...to lead them the way. Anywhere God tells us to go, He goes first. Life can be like swimming a raging river,  crossing an icy lake, or passing over a rickety bridge. But God never tells us to go over it alone...He goes first. God leads from the front and not from the back. That's why our Lord in scripture said "follow me", because He is ahead and leading the way. If you are crossing a bridge of hurt and pain, He has already crossed it. If you are crossing a river of troubled times, He has already crossed it. If you are crossing the icy lake of loneliness and despair, He has already crossed it...and He is waiting on the other side for you.

3) God is always moving forward: When things get scary and uncertain in life, we often want to turn back....to old places, old acquaintances, old ways (like Israel wanted to go back to Egypt). In our weakness, we would rather have hard and familiar (ex. abusive relationships) over hard and unfamiliar, even if it will lead to our promised land. But we can't turn back. If we are following God, then we will move forward because He is always moving forward.

Are you using your GPS...God Positioning System? Don't rely on what you see or what others are doing. Let the Lord be your guide, and He will never lead you astray. Remember that God is above us, ahead of us, and always moving forward. Trust in Him!

What's on my mind today.

I usually share with you sermon snippets or teachings from the word, which is the overall purpose of this blog site because what the God has to say is so much more important than what I have to say. But, I wanted to just share some thoughts I have been processing, and maybe someone reading has had similar thoughts or issues, and we can help each other.

I have been feeling "disoriented" in my walk with Christ lately. Not sure what to do next in my ministry, cautious about jumping out too far to pursue things in my ministry, because I want to be sure its what God wants, but just not getting clear signs from Him. I want to be in His purpose, and I'm afraid to be out of His will. So I am cautious and trying to be patient, but I also feel like I'm standing still when I'm used to moving forward. You ever felt like that? Not sure what the next step is in your career, your relationships, or your life in general?

I am reminding myself that God is faithful and true, and not just to me, but to His purpose and His will.  What He has planned for me is in motion, even if I can't see it. So I guess the uncertainty is in me and not in Him. Though I can't see down the road, He can and He always knows exactly what He is doing....and it is always for my good. So I'll wait on Him...and I'll trust in Him...because I believe in Him!!!

If you would like to share thoughts on this or what you may be going through, or if you would like to shed some Light on the matter with a scripture passage, please leave a comment or email me at reverendevans@embarqmail.com
